Middle class students struggle to cover cost of college

For some middle class families, a lack of financial aid among other resources has resulted in a struggle to cover the cost of college. The Washington Post recently reported that a trend of tuition rising faster than the rate of inflation, paired with slower financial aid and wages increases, has presented a difficult choice for many middle class families: To take on debt or settle for a less expensive school.

We spoke with a student who faced this decision, as well as the Director of Financial Aid at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Kathy Sahlhoff, and Travis Hedtke, a school counselor at Memorial High School in Eau Claire.
